Being a bit of a holiday princess, the thought of camping used to make me shudder!! But since joining the lifestyle I’ve found ways to make it really enjoyable. I’d recommend easing yourself in gently and starting with a spot of glamping. Here’s our camping journey so far………..
We started off by visiting Turn A Blind Eye clothing optional campsite in Battle Hastings. They have a bell tent that you can hire that includes a nice sturdy futon for added comfort! This meant we didn’t have to think about erecting tents, there was a clean shower block and a small kitchen area with kettle, microwave and fridge.
We took along a couple of microwave meals for the evening and plenty of alcohol to enjoy. Our duvet from home, lots of pillow and fluffy blankets. This meant we could enjoy the site during the day and evening, without having to worry about setting up camping stoves etc. It was an easy option for our first time ‘outdoors’. But then came swingathon (more on that in another post coming soon).
For the Swingathon festival we also booked glamping. We knew we would have a bell tent with beds and power so we planned from there.
Once again we took along all our creature comforts from home, bought ourselves some little pineapple string lights, made a flag and also bought some rather fabulous pineapple bedding. We took a small heater and also a kettle so we could stay cosy and enjoy a cuppa. A cool box kept outside with lots of small bottles of frozen water kept our wine and beer chilled for the whole weekend too.
As for food and drink, there were traders there, but we knew that might get expensive so we took along a small camping stove, a frying pan and some plates and cutlery. We borrowed a travel fridge/cool box from a friend for the weekend and plugged this in to keep our food fresh. Food wise, we took bacon, bread, tea & coffee, milk and sandwich making bits and bobs and fed ourselves during the day and bought meals from the traders at night.
There were showers and toilets, but we were nervous about the loos, so we also bought a camping toilet and a small spray tan tent so we could have our own ‘wee loo’ to use at night and if the toilets became a little unpleasant. We made our tent super cosy, but also practical. Making areas for food prep, getting ready and hanging our clothes. Yes we took everything but the kitchen sink (although we did have a washing up bowl) but C really wanted a home away from home. Her light up mirror actually made for an excellent mood light in the evenings!!
We even took along our pineapple passion mascot Bruce the ‘Pineappleotol’ to keep guard on our tent while we were off having fun.
Everything went without a hitch so we decided to bite the bullet and head back to Turn a Blind Eye the very next week. This time with some friends who have a caravan.
We were going to brave it and take a tent this time, so tried to pack as light as possible. We practised putting our tent up in the garden before we went and purchased an inflatable mattress. (One that you plug into the mains and is high up like a proper double bed).
Yes we forgot tea cups and the frying pan, but our lovely fellow camp mates came good with those for us. And we did look like prize idiots as we carried our inflated mattress from the kitchen room across the field to our tent, but it was still fun.
As the sun rose each morning and we felt the breeze on our bits it made roughing it worth while. Being totally free and at one with nature, really can make you pretty fruity!
If you are a swinger and want to connect with us then we’d suggest searching out a well-known swinger app called FAB swingers. You will find us going by the name of Cumhither.
But if you just want to ask us questions or you’re ‘not quite there yet’, then please feel free to drop us an email on hello@pineapplepassion.co.uk
